Funding Pakistan...

"Hollywood star Angelina Jolie has contributed $100,000 (about Pakistani Rs 8.5 million) for flood ravaged Pakistan, a move that surpasses President Asif Ali Zardari's Rs 5 million donation and the help extended by most other politicians.

Asif Ali Zardari's son supposedly has started a campaign to collect money in Britain from overseas Pakistanis.
If Zardari wished he could withdraw from one of his accounts overseas and help Pakistan single handedly.

"Based upon the available data and recent evaluations, the total estimated ...stated assets amount to 1.5 billion dollars. The information can be further authenticated through property evaluators and agents.

Not to bore anyone but lets take a look at what this man spent on a property in '95.
"..October 1995, Mr. Zardari was in an expansive mood. ...arranged the $4 million purchase of Rockwood, with its 355 acres of rolling Surrey countryside.

4 million DOLLARS for a piece of property and Rs 5 million for the country that made him president.

Can we wake up?

Pakistan...

Pakistan (Pak·i·stan)

Pronunciation: /ˈpakiˌstan, ˌpäkiˈstän/a country in South Asia; population 174,578,600 (est. 2009); capital, Islamabad; languages, Urdu (official), English (official), Punjabi, Sindhi, and Pashto
A Nation abandoned.
I am so upset that I could also join the billions around the world and point fingers, "Pakistan is bad, is horrible, will not do anything to stabilize, the people living in Pakistan have gone mad"

Everyone has heard about the FLOOD in Pakistan "worst in over 80 years." To the Pakistanis when was the last time that you went back to your country and helped a poor person? Not by sticking a 20 in their pocket but actually taking the time out to figure out their needs and helping them out for a year or maybe more? Sounds tough huh, it's the country that gave you your identity in this world, it isn't so tough considering the exchange rate from a dollar to a rupee, anyone for guesses? One dollar equals approximately 85 rupees (US dollar = 85.6250 Pakistani rupees).
We spend lavishly in The States, and far more in The EU. Here is the problem we leave our country and we don't turn around to see what goes on back their until we have to go back for a wedding or maybe one of our kids is getting married and shopping in Pakistan, as the British say is "Proper" it is cheap & amazing quality. While we are there we make comments "how do you live like this? how can you allow this?" The questions really should be how can we allow this? How can we let a nation which won its freedom through great loss, people in my family were butchered they did not care for their lives they had a vision, a vision of a free nation, a nation that will stand united through rough and tough.
That vision is lost! I don't and will not get into the Politics (the activities associated with the governance of a country or other area, especially the debate or conflict among individuals or parties having or hoping to achieve power) of Pakistan. People in power are corrupt and are looting the country openly there is not a single person to stop this atrocity, reason behind this is education. People of The Islamic Republic of Pakistan do not have the money nor the mindset to send their children to school so they learn what their parents did, which is nothing but ridiculous decision making under tremendous pressure from an outside source (usually a political party trying to come into power by using force) or emotion.

Pakistanis need to stand up, I need to stand up. We need to suspend our cable television for a month, drop the data plans off our cell phones, skip a month of shopping for clothes, park our cars and car pool and send this money to a country that gave us our "Pehchan" our identity. I was not born in Pakistan you might not have been either, but your parents or grand parents might be from there, we owe it to ourselves. 100$\month = 8500Rs that can transform lives!
We have heard about the floods, did we hear about the brutal killings, how about the load shedding (action to reduce the load on something, especially the interruption of an electricity supply to avoid excessive load on the generating plan) how unjust are the acts we have literacy to blame. The only answer is EDUCATION.

It is not too late.
People say Pakistan has died, lets prove them wrong lets wake up because if we do not we will have killed Pakistan.

Masjid (Mosque) in New York City.

terrorist (ter·ror·ist)

Pronunciation: /ˈterərist/
Noun
a person who uses terrorism in the pursuit of political aims

The term "terrorism" was originally used to describe the actions of the Jacobin Club during the "Reign of Terror" in the French Revolution.

_______________________________________________________

So are we targeting the first African American President? Is there a Political agenda behind this? Or is there a barrage to call each and every Muslim a terrorist?

"The Muslims have, as everyone else does, the right to practice their religion and they have the right to construct a mosque at ground zero if they wish," Rep. Peter King, R-New York, said on CNN's "State of the Union" program. "What I'm saying, though, is they should listen to public opinion; they should listen to the deep wounds and anguish this is causing to so many good people."

Okay everybody breathe...

2001 New York City, by far the worst days of my life a long with many other Americans which share many different beliefs. Here we are in the year 2010 where Muslims want to build a Masjid (Mosque) in New York City solely because there are so many Muslims in NYC as well as so many more that pour into The City to do business and would like a place large enough to pray without having to break out the prayer rugs on the sidewalks.

There are September 11th organizations that have extended a hand in helping the families of the victims. I have heard them on CNN and they are just a GOOGLE search away to see how angry they are at the fact that there might be a Masjid near the WTC site.

People need to wake up and smell the coffee, do something else besides switching on the TV and listening to the garbage all day. I can sit here and give out examples and examples of what happens around the world which should be classified as “terrorism” but that word today has been engraved into the minds of western society as “MUSLIM” “ISLAM.” This is for the simple fact there is no Muslim Media Presence.

The events that took place on 9/11 can not be justified by saying “MUSLIMS DID IT,” they were not of Islam or any other religion for that matter. To make one better understand what might have happened we would have to dissect and come to a conclusion based on FACTS, facts that would take many decades to unwind I’ll give one or two.
Let us rewind back before the fall of the USSR, Carter said “…attempting to conquer the fiercely independent Muslim people of that country “We must recognize the strategic importance of Afghanistan to stability and peace. A Soviet-occupied Afghanistan threatens both Iran and Pakistan and is a steppingstone to possible control over much of the world’s oil supplies.”
With acts of another President today we occupy Afghanistan “a steppingstone to possible control over much of the world’s oil supplies.” Who trained the militants in Afghanistan to fight the USSR? We allow torture of captured prisoners of war men or women, and we all can go online and see how RAPE (of course a type of interrogation) of these men and women irrespective of their age can bring us or any other country in the world any good. Every single victim of torture is guaranteed to become someone who will try to fight back “terrorist” (we can look at Vietnam for proof they took all means necessary to fight the US for the simple fact they did not have the ability to withstand the attack); can you fathom calling that a religious whiplash? We can say our country is being attacked mostly by the citizens of the Middle East, but who supplied the weaponry to these people? Who let soldier march into their homes and shoot their men and take their women as prize? Consciences of Tactics of WAR echo far beyond boundaries of any one presidency\generation.

I don’t hate all the people from the Middle East, that wouldn’t make much sense. I hate those who instigate. Masjid in New York City is not a blemish by any means to the emotions of people who's lives were lost since there is no correlation between the two incidents(9/11 and Masjid), it would only create a medium to educate people that the followers of a Holy Book can not and will not harm the civilians of any nation, and zombies created by our own past mistakes are not of ISLAM or CHRISTIANITY. No Matter what the Media wants to say.

There has to be a change in policy in the United States, a change that will need to go into each school in the nation. To teach tolerance of others irrespective of their background and belief, otherwise we will devise a country with more blood shed and crying mothers within it then the world combined. Either that or lets close these borders yesterday.

Note: This is a heated discussion in the media today. A lot of people get hate and blame for this, if anything I have said is not true please correct me and explain to me your point of view so I can better myself.
Lets work together Thank you!

A night of surprise

I was sitting here thinking about what I will be doing about my wife's birthday this year... last year came to mind.

So I wanted to tell you guys about how it was.  I had told her in advance we were going out for dinner where when and how? She had no clue, an obvious surprise! The only detail I gave her was the fact that our night was going to be spent in Dallas,TX. She tried her little tricks to get it out of me but I was not going to budge!

She was also four months pregnant at the time. Around 7pm we head out for the amazing evening I had planned for her. I put in the directions in my Magellan RoadMate 1412 GPS and on we went, about an hour later we got to a residential area with no "Restaurant" in sight. I had to make some phone calls and find out why the wrong address was on the website that I had made "dinner" reservations on. Came to find out the address belonged to the owner! Why would you put the owners address on the website!!! Beats me, anyways I got the right address and headed out to our destination.

She was so excited! You had to be there to see her almost loosing her mind in excitement. Finally I pulled up and parked! "4505 Claire Chennault Drive, Addison, TX 75001" We walked up to the lobby there stood our host of the evening, he greeted us "Welcome to the Addison airport I will be your pilot" My wifes face lit up! Pilot!!! That's right I had gotten us a private plane ride over Dallas.

It is one of the best experience of our lives we were able to fly the plane our awesome pilot did some great stunts and showed us some great things about flying (how with a click of a button you can light up the run way of small airports, and how the whole radioing in your location and where you want to land works)! Starlight Flight was really an awesome experience for both my wife and I.

Now the problem is how do I top that? Ideas?

Ramadan to starve? Or a month of self reflection?

Ramadan (Ram·a·dan)

noun

Pronunciation: /ˈräməˌdän, ˈraməˌdan/

the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset
_______________________________________________________________________

Lets get one thing out of the way here, I am not a scholar of any religion nor do I claim to be one.

Fasting is done from sun up (Fajir prayer) to sun down (Maghrib Prayer). I have been fasting since I was 9, I remember complaining to my parents "I'm hungry" "can I eat now" "when will it be time to eat." When I was young I would fast 3 - 4 days of the holy month, it wasn't until i was about 12 when I wanted to and started to fast the 30 days of Ramadan.
The whole concept of Ramadan and fasting is so beautiful and enlightening if and when one tries to understand the concept. I have heard so many people say "have fun starving" "some god you have" "what if you pass out" "are you crazy" "are you really not going to eat or drink for 30 days" "thats crazy."

When you drive a car eventually you will have to get it serviced, and when you abuse your car (accelerate hard, brake hard, burn your tires) you might need to replace one or two things or might need to cut back otherwise you will find yourself out of a working car. Just like that all year long many people from all different walks of life abuse their body, they smoke, they drink, they swear, they eat all kinds of unhealthy food, and the list goes on and on. So when a person fasts in the month of Ramadan it is not just "Oh I'm going to be starving and be thirsty all day for Allah(God)." It is a month of reflection what have I been doing all year, what do I need to change, are my habits out of control am I doing something I should not be?

In todays society we don't have time for our self forget anyone else. There might be a select few in this world who take the time out to see how the family is and if they need something, but most of us we go to work in the morning come home watch some television do some groceries on certain days and go to sleep, the cycle starts the next day. There is zero time for our selves our body is very important, I mean "Ha!" it's the reason for our existence isn't it. On occasion when we meet up with some people that sometimes we call our friends they will say oh hey you are gaining weight or you don't look so good, light bulb goes off! We spend all night thinking about what they said "wow I really need to do something about this weight I cant look like this." Next morning we take out 5 minutes get on the internet and order some pills for weight loss, or the ones who really know what is going on order the detox pills, even though they should detox by changing their diet.

Life goes on, there comes a day we die we all have ways of making our selves forget about that day but that day may be today. No matter what religion or even if you don't follow a religion take some time out to reflect upon your self. What do you see? What condition is your body in? What situation is your life in? Muslims take out a whole month for self reflection, can't you just take a moment?, I think you owe it to your self.

Do I Dare

It's my first day on board the blog train!

First things first...

My name is Ahmed Zaidi, born in the Middle East, raised in Connecticut, live in Texas. My parents are from Pakistan, to add to the mix, Dad was born in India and came over to Pakistan when the two split (Pakistan and India) Mom was born in Pakistan.
I work as a Software Quality Assurance Analyst for a company that handles USPS databases, I also had a cellphone retail business which i recently sold a big factor being that Internet and also the economy.
I am married to a beautiful woman through who Allah(God) has blessed me with a adorable son.

Now that we got that out of that way lets get this party started!

I have many thoughts and ideas of what I want to talk about. The question becomes do I DARE? I have to realize that every human being is different depending on many factors(culture\upbringing\current state of mind, etc.), but do I really have to keep that into consideration? After all its the risks that we take in life that really make us stronger and help us determine our scope right? So my next blog will be about... see you on the next one!

Note to reader: None of what I write is to hurt you as an individual if you have a comment or concern talk to me about it. When I make a mistake tell me about it, when your mad yell at me, when happy smile with me, and thanks for reading!
